Quantum Mechanics of Charged Particle Beam Optics

This is a theoretical book dedicated to the understanding of charged-particle optics and applications. The first four of the book’s six chapters are introductory ones dedicated to classical mechanics, quantum mechanics and classical charged-particle-beam optics. The last two chapters deal with the scalar theory of quantum charged-particle beams and the spinor theory of quantum charged-particle beams.

The book is very clearly written, and the concepts introduced are plainly explained and demonstrated. Although it has a large introductory part, the book is dedicated to readers with solid knowledge of physics in general and optics in particular. The effort of understanding this book is rewarded by the discovery of the applications of charged-beam optics in electron microscopy and particle accelerators, which are landmarks of modern science.
