Optical Microring Resonators: Theory, Techniques, and Applications

Optical microring resonators have become one of the most important elements in integrated-optics technology since 1990. The growing prevalence of silicon photonics in that field has motivated the rapid growth of the microring resonators, based on the silicon-on–insulator material.

This book provides a concise treatment of the theory, principle and techniques of microring resonator devices, and their applications in optical filters, sensors, laser, nonlinear optics, optomechanics and quantum optics. Including a detailed treatment of the theory and techniques for modeling and design of microring devices, the work is a handy and practical guide for graduate students and researchers who wish to familiarize themselves with the technology and acquire sufficient knowledge to enable the design and development of microring devices for their own applications.
