The biophotonics market and its R&D expenditures are growing at about 4 percent per year, according to estimates from OSA Industry Development Associates (OIDA). OIDA forecasts that the market will grow 4.5 percent in 2017 from US$41.6 billion in 2016, itself a gain of 3.9 percent over 2015.
