European Optical Society Announces Two New Awards for Innovation

06 March, 2015—The European Optical Society (EOS) announced this week two new competitions for individuals who have made innovative contributions in photonics. Within the LIGHT2015 project, a European-Commission-funded research and innovation program promoting photonics during the International Year of Light in 2015, the new awards will offer a diploma and an honorarium of €2500 each to a young entrepreneur and a young woman active in the field of photonics.
 
The LIGHT2015 Young Photonics Entrepreneur Award will honor an individual entrepreneur under the age of 37 at the time of the award who is active in the photonics industry, while the LIGHT2015 Young Women in Photonics Award will honor a female scientist under 37 who has demonstrated innovative contributions in the field. The honors are to be presented at the World of Photonics Congress in Munch, Germany, 21 – 25 June 2015.
