Genvac Aerospace, a thin-film technologies company in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., was one of the many casualties of the telecom bust. Founded in 1994 by Gerald Mearini as General Vacuum, this R&D startup built its reputation by developing CVD (chemical vapor deposition) process technology for the fabrication of diamondlike carbon and diamond films, including patents and commercial business.
