The Road Ahead for U.S. Science Policy
Is the Obama administration making room for science among many competing priorities?
President Obama holds a cabinet-level meeting.
With one-eighth of Barack Obama’s first term as U.S. President complete, members of the scientific community are wondering what’s in store for science policy over the the next three and a half years. Historically, pressing widespread issues such as economic recessions and military conflicts have tended to edge out perennial topics like federal funding for R&D in the political arena. So far, however, that does not appear to be the case in 2009.
