One-Dimensional Microwave Photonic Crystals: New Applications

The research monograph One-Dimensional Microwave Photonic Crystals is a translation from the original Russian version and is based on the research conducted at the Russian University of Samara. This book is intended for researchers and graduate students interested in microwave photonic crystals.

The authors familiarize the readers with computational and experimental results for rectangular waveguides with dielectric inserts, on planar transmission lines on waveguide slit lines as well as on photonic crystals on waveguides resonant diaphragms. Furthermore, the readers are introduced to control mechanisms for the amplitude frequency characteristics of the microwave photonic crystal by means of electric and magnetic fields. The authors also propose a new kind of low-dimensional microwave photonic crystal in order to create matched microwave loads as well as the possibility of defect modes. The discussion on near-field microwave microscopes should attract a wide readership.
