Accelerating and Vortex Laser Beams

This is an excellent book about the modern topic of vortex laser beams. The book is very clearly written, containing theoretical, simulation and experimental results. The first three of its five chapters deal with accelerating laser beams, Hermite-Gauss vortex beams and asymmetric vortex laser beams. The forth chapter is dedicated to the focusing of vortex beams, while the last chapter deals with vector vortex beams.

Since vortex beams have various applications in many areas, such as astronomy, micromanipulation, communications and quantum computations, the book could be interesting for a broad audience. That audience, however, must be familiar with Maxwell’s equations and laser physics.
