This 2017 paperback of a 2013 first edition brings into the range of students and engineers a comprehensive introduction and evaluation of 3-D vision and imaging. The fifteen chapters, contributed by some forty researchers, offer an overview of the rapid advancement in 3-D systems in a number of applications: robotics and manufacturing, medicine and biology, tomography, and forensics.
Techniques discussed in the book can be grouped in three categories: triangulation and structured light, time-of-flight and interferometry/holography, with special topics also covering particle image velocimetry (the challenger of laser Doppler velocimetry), 3-D ultrasound imaging and optical coherence tomography. The illustrations and references thorough out the text are nice, but, unfortunately, some printing mistakes haven't been removed for the paperback edition.
