Two-Dimensional Transition-Metal Dichalcogenides

This book of more than 500 pages about 2-D transitional-metal-dichalcogenides (TMDs) covers one of the most important research subjects in recent years, since the 2-D TMD is the largest family of atomically thin materials studied after graphene. Many 2-D TMD materials are direct semiconductors, while graphene is a semimetal. This family of materials is now generating six publications a day, worldwide.
 
The book is divided in three main parts. Chapters 1 to 5 offer a deep introduction into the physics of 3-D and 2-D TMDs, such as their crystallographic structures, physical properties and growth methods. Optical properties of TMDs, developed in the next four chapters, constitute the core of the book, in which Raman scattering and luminescence are extensively described. The closing chapters are dedicated to the applications of 2D- TMDs and their heterostructures.
 
The book has beautiful color illustrations and tens of references at the end of each chapter. It is a must for anyone working in optics.
