Visible Light Communication

As computer networks require more and more wireless bandwidth, the quest for new spectrum bands has inevitably led to the re-discovery of visible light communications (VLC). This book is one of a very few about VLC, written by and for a technical audience, primarily researchers in the field. Unlike other books on VLC, this one does not delve on basic concepts about light sources or modulation formats, but goes straight to the technical matter. Aside from an introductory chapter more accessible to the general public, the book deals with issues of modulation techniques, source positioning, synchronization issues and emerging standards. Chapters are heavily mathematical, with numerous charts and ample references from the recent literature. It could also be used as a textbook in a graduate survey course, despite lacking exercises for student use. In terms of navigation aids, the book has an index of key terms, but lacks a list of acronyms that would be useful to novices.
