Essentials of Nonlinear Optics

The authors have used their two decades of teaching experience to write this introductory book on nonlinear optics. They cover several topics, including formalism and phenomenology of nonlinear wave mixing processes, harmonic generation, optical phase conjugation, self-focusing and physical mechanisms of optical nonlinearity. Raman and Brillouin scattering are not mentioned. To help the optics novice, the authors use clear and simple language and include exploratory questions and problems at the end of the chapters.

This book is intended for a one-semester course in science and engineering for senior-level undergraduates or new graduate students.
