Wavelength division Multiplexing (WDM) is an efficient means of increasing transport capacity. It starts with optical fiber effects and gradually advances to components of optical fiber, non-fiber related effects, modulation formats for WDM, transport systems, and fiber and their interrelation in state-of-the-art WDM systems and networks.
