The first section of this book, entitled “Why all the excitement?” provides a succinct explanation of the growing interest in the field of nanoparticle plasmonics, which also explains the need for this book. It provides a well-structured exposition of the topic and is an ideal introduction to the field. Remarkably, this compact book manages to accommodate the basic physics, underlying technologies and potential applications of plasmonic metal nanoparticles.
