Physics of Nanostructured Solid State Devices

This textbook introduces the basic concepts of quantum mechanics that are necessary for understanding nanostructured solid-state devices. These concepts are given based on ket and bra notation. It also includes classical models such as the drift-diffusion model and the Boltzman transport and quantum transport models. In addition to the subjects presented in traditional publications on the optical properties of solids, this book elucidates the quantum mechanics of electrons in a magnetic field and associated phenomena. . There are several solved examples in each chapter which should help students to better understand the material. Each chapter also includes several special topics in which physical properties are solved in one, two and three dimensions. This book is suitable for first year graduate students of electrical engineering and applied physics as well as researchers in the field.
