A saying sometimes attributed to Niels Bohr posits that “prediction is hazardous, especially about the future.” Wise words. Of course when considering today’s global crisis, one could also tack on, “and especially in a pandemic.” In market terms, we are experiencing a proverbial black swan—an event so unexpected that it invalidates all previous forecasts.
