For optics and photonics companies, partnerships can sometimes be a double-edged sword.

It’s widely assumed that industry collaboration is a good thing. For example, collaboration on product standards can help reduce the number of product variations in the market, lowering the cost to develop new products and concentrating manufacturing volumes. At its best, collaboration can help create a supportive ecosystem, reducing risk to both customers and suppliers and accelerating the adoption of products into new applications.
