I was delighted to see Eberhard Spiller’s photos and explanation of circles of light under trees in OPN’s February Optical Feedback section. I remember noticing interesting light patterns in the early 1970s during a solar eclipse when the sun shining through my eyelet lace curtains made crescent patterns on the floor. Years later I saw similar images under a pergola in San Diego, California (USA):
