High-Color Definition Lighting with Broadband LEDs

With crisper color and more nuanced shading, broadband color and full-spectrum white LEDs are helping to extend the applications of solid-state lighting—into photography, material inspection, art and shop displays, and even Hollywood movies.

From open fires to the first electric lamps to LEDs, the history of artificial lighting illustrates the continued ingenuity of humankind over the millennia. It is not surprising that a great deal of effort has gone into finding new and better ways of illuminating our homes and outdoor environments, given how central artificial lighting is to human endeavors—whether it be for extending meaningful activities into the evening, keeping homes and offices well lit, or ensuring safe transportation.
