Emil Wolf has been elected an honorary member of the Romanian Academy, which is devoted to science and humanities. Founded in 1866, the Academy has a maximum membership of 281 distinguished intellectuals from Romania and abroad. Wolf is an OSA Honorary Member, OSA Fellow, and the recipient of numerous OSA awards, including the Frederic Ives Medal/Jarus W. Quinn Endowment, Max Born Award, Esther Hoffman Beller Medal and Joseph W. Goodman Book Writing Award. He will be honored at OSA’s Frontiers in Optics/Laser Science 2012 conference with a special symposium in recognition of his 90th birthday.
