Invisibility Cloak Goes 3-D

A team at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany recently completed a three-dimensional, near-infrared “invisibility cloaking” experiment.

Imagine seeing a mirror-like carpet with a bump in the middle, due to an object hidden underneath it. Then you look through a special lens—and the carpet appears to be flat, without any bump.
