OPN Talks with David Awschalom

Manipulative may not be the word that most scientists would want used to describe them, but David Awschalom and his colleagues don’t mind it—as long as you’re talking about electrons. Awschalom studies spintronics—a field that evaluates ways to manipulate an electron’s spin. He hopes his research will have eventual applications in quantum computing and highly secure networks, for example.
