The Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) and Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference (QELS) explored such hot topics as metamaterials, ultrashort-pulse lasers and biomedical imaging. The fourth annual conference on Photonic Applications, Systems and Technologies (PhAST) showcased lasers in manufacturing, photonics in national security, commercialization of applied research and solid-state lighting techniques.
