Military Laser Contract Goes to Elbit Systems for $73.4 M

27 March, 2015Elbit Systems of America (Merrimack, N.H., USA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Israeli-based Elbit Systems Ltd., announced this week a contract award with the U.S. Marine Corps to deliver an indefinite quantity of Common Laser Range Finder Integrated Capability systems through March 2020. The US$73.4 million CLRF-IC contract will be fulfilled from the company’s Merrimack, N.H., location, extending the existing US$7.5 million initial order of the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract.

The Elbit Systems technology enables marines to acquire targets via a lightweight imaging and range-finding system from covert field positions. The system also provides 24-hour observation capability and an accurate assessment of range to targets. Laser designation systems confirm target locations in a variety of environments, regardless of magnetic disturbances, overhead noise and GPS-blind scenarios.
