JDSU Announces Names of Two Spinoff Companies

27 February 2015—The giant of fiber optics, JDSU (Milpitas, Calif., USA), announced yesterday the registration of its spinoff company and remaining business into two independent companies named Lumentum and Viavi Solutions. The company announced the split of JDSU into two companies 30 September 2014, into a communications and commercial optical products (CCOP) business and a network enablement (NE), service enablement (SE) and optical security and performance products (OSP) business. The CCOP spinoff business will be named Lumentum, to be led by chief executive officer Alan Lowe, who has been president of the CCOP business since 2008. The NE, SE and OSP business will be renamed Viavi Solutions, to be led by JDSU’s current president and CEO Tom Waechter.

JDSU stockholders will own shares of both Lumentum and Viavi Solutions. Lumentum has applied for the Nasdaq common stock listing ticker symbol “LITE.” The separation will better enable Lumentum to pursue more acquisitions, and makes it easier for investors to valuate the complex offerings.
