Trumpf Profits Soar 61% on Record Fiscal Year

17 October 2014—Industrial laser manufacturer Trumpf (Ditzingen, Germany) announced in its fiscal year-end annual press conference a leap in profits due to acquisitions, increased sales and improvements to yield and productivity. Year-over-year earnings before taxes for fiscal 2013/2014 rose 61.2 percent to €248 million—the highest number in the company’s 90-year history, up from €154 million last year.

Trumpf president Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller credited several broad yield and productivity enhancement programs that increased efficiency in the past 18 months and improved sales from 6.6 to 9.6 percent. Strategic acquisitions were a major contributor to the increased result, including a majority acquisition of the machine tool manufacturer Jiangsu Jinfangyuan CNC Machine Company in China.

Future plans include a 51 percent ownership in software manufacturer India Metamation Software Pvt. Ltd. (Chennai, India) and a stake in the American subsidiary Metamation (Reno, Nev., U.S.A.), considered one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machine tool software.
