Meadowlark Acquires Boulder Nonlinear Systems’ Commercial Unit

22 August 2014Meadowlark Optics (Frederick, Colo., U.S.A.), manufacturer of liquid crystal solutions and polarization optics, announced this week the acquisition of the Commercial Products Group of Boulder Nonlinear Systems (BNS; Lafayette, Colo., U.S.A.).  The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. The staff and equipment of the Commercial Products Group of BNS has moved to the Meadowlark facility in Frederick. The products affected include spatial light modulators (SLMs), optical shutters, polarization rotators and optical tweezers, among others.

The move allows BNS to focus on research and development of non-mechanical beam steering devices and improvements to the existing SLM product line via Small Business Innovative Research contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. With Meadowlark’s larger manufacturing capabilities, the SLM business will benefit from new product initiatives, faster delivery times and expanded service.
