LEGO Optics: Projects in Optical and Laser Science with LEGO

books-img09_24_15_(1).jpgMany of us have played with LEGO blocks as kids and have built all kinds of amazing things.  This book goes a step further by showing how to incorporate LEGO parts into our optics projects.  This is an innovative use of LEGO blocks.

What I found fascinating is that even though LEGO specifically does not make optical components, combinations of a few LEGO bricks can be used to serve as optical components.  (Of course, for some projects, the bricks might need to be modified.) This book is well-illustrated with color diagrams and gives step-by-step instructions for projects such as a LEGO laser, Michaelson interferometer, holography, and custom color LED light bricks.

The author emphasizes the projects, not theory. This book would be ideal for the hobbyist or the high school student searching for science fair projects.  As the saying goes, you are only limited by your imagination!
