Waves in Gradient Metamaterials

This reviewer is happy to see enthusiasm for novel topics. The connections drawn between photonics, acoustics, material science and technology in this book create the potential for new and exciting applications. The concept of “non-locality” is applied to classical physics and its engineering applications as well; however, this seeming contradiction to Newton's view on force fields and Huygens' principle should have been examined. The analysis of results using simple visual presentations makes this text very pedagogically useful. Thus, I recommend this book to a broad readership, including researchers and engineers as well as lecturers and graduate students, and even to designers of communication systems.
