Functional Imaging by Controlled Nonlinear Optical Phenomena

The authors have provided a remarkable reference on nonlinear optical and functional imaging, which includes powerful microscopy and spectroscopy techniques via ultrafast laser pulses. The helpful introductory chapter on ultrafast optics, including higher order nonlinear optics phenomena, nonlinear ionization and light sources with ultrashort laser pulses, prepares readers for the solid coverage of nonlinear microscopy and spectroscopy. In addition to the basic architecture of a laser scanning microscope, the authors also introduce fluorescence techniques.

The core of functional imaging is based on molecular control. Readers will especiallybenefit from the sections on multifarious control of multiphoton excitation and superresolution imaging.

This well-documented reference concludes with a chapter on laser cell nano-surgery, photo disruption of tissues and photo simulation. Researchers and graduate students interested in microscopy, spectroscopy and nonlinear optics would benefit from this book.
