Laser-Based Measurements for Time and Frequency Domain Applications: A Handbook

This is a beautiful and monumental work about time and frequency laser measurements. Despite being more than 700 pages long, this book is easy to read thanks to its clear and concise style. It is divided in three parts. The first part is an introduction to harmonic oscillators, resonators, laser principles and various types of lasers. The second section is dedicated to high-resolution frequency measurements and measurements using pulsed lasers. The remainder of the book presents the emerging topics of this research area, such as optical atomic clocks, spectroscopy, measurements of fundamental constants and tests of fundamental laws of physics.

These applications are just a few examples of the many areas that will be explored in the near future using the techniques presented in this important volume. This book is a must-read for anybody working in laser research and industry, and will be particularly helpful for Ph.D. students.
