This volume is intended for undergraduate students and is divided into three sections. The first section deals with quantum information. The basic notions of quantum gates and networks are introduced, along with quantum systems, such as atoms in laser fields or spins in magnetic fields. Quantum computing is the subject of the second section. Quantum algorithms are developed and experimental systems, like trapped atoms and ions and the nuclear magnetic resonance, are presented. The rest of the book is dedicated to quantum computation. Here, the author explains quantum codes and issues related to the Bell inequalities.
Each chapter is clearly written and provides exercises and suggestions for further reading. It is an excellent guide for anyone studying the challenging area of quantum computing.
