A Rochester-Russia Collaboration

Russian and American universities team up to advance the next generation of optical scientists.

Since 2014, the oldest optical college in the United States, the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester, N.Y., and two leading Russian optics and photonics institutions—ITMO University of St. Petersburg and the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) in Moscow—have engaged in a growing collaboration in research and education. Here, we report on some recent highlights of that collaboration, focusing in particular on some innovative cross-border educational opportunities.
