The University of Arizona’s optics outreach in Chile

A member of the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences student chapter recently conducted an outreach program to initiate learning and collaborative relationships with scientists, engineers and high school students in Chile.

Chile is known by scientists around the world for its unique natural assets, including the pristine dark skies of the Atacama Desert and the stable and predictable weather. These qualities have motivated American and European organizations to construct world-class observatories in Chile. For example, the European Extremely Large Telescope is due to be built there in 2020.
