Ian Walmsley is the Hooke Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, where he is also head of the sub-department of atomic and laser physics. His research efforts are focused on quantum phenomena on ultrafast timescales, including the generation of nonclassical radiation and matter and its characterization, the manipulation of matter using closed loop methods and the development of methods for measuring ultrafast optical waveforms.
